Throughout history people have envisioned pirates as blood thirsty beast who rather do nothing more than cut your throat to take your wallet.
So with some of the most famous men to sail the seas who would you model your character after? Blackbeard? Captain Morgan? Captain Kidd? Captain Avery? or is there another pirate?

My Ex-wife comes immediatly to mind.......
One of my favorite subjects when I was growing up was Pirates. All those old Errol Flynn movies I was addicted to as a child had a tremendous influemce on my chosen vocation as a Fenceing Instructor.
My favorite: Edward Teach, AKA: BLACKBEARD To me he epitomizes the entire breed. A cutlass swinging, womanizing true AV to the bone who knew the value of pure terror & how to make a liveing with it. I have read every version of his story I can find & if they would make a movie about his life without any "Artistic Licence" embeleshments it would rival any sea adventure movie ever made, right down to the climactic final battle against a determined "Hero", (a fire eating young Brittish officer who revolutionized the way hand to hand swordfighting at sea with this very action), by the name of Lt. Maynard.
My runner up would be Calico Jack & his kinky little story involving Anne Bonny & Mary Celeste. THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!
Oh yeah.......AAAHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Personally, I would pick blackbeard for certain reasons, and one of the main reasons is that he was the king of pirates in this game and he has just died. And just to let you know portugese weren't involed in this area due to some treaty with Spain if I recall correctly.

You are recalling the treaty correctly. However, Pirates dont exactly follow "treaties" because if they were then they would be pirates to begin with. And fyi the portugese were involved in the are just not as extensively as the well known pirates. Your treaty is correct just not eveyone followed it.
