Dunno about quests.. but you do have cities etc you walk around in and considering ive seen characters look pretty good i think there might be some land quests.. but the majority will surely be on the sea.
but hey if you dont like the sea i suggest a different game.. :P
Check out Pirates of the Burning Sea... Yarr! We got some interestin stuff goin on!

I could of swore when they intially started releasing game info that you would have some quest to do on land but not the equivalent of other MMOs...considering this is a pirate game.
But yea there will be cities, ports, and such to visit. Hopefully a place me can hide me booty.

Hehehe there better be land quests. A huge part of being a Pirate building your way up from nothing, is hiring a crew, and going onto land to dig up treasure i mean come on

Hi bigh_dudes, welcome to the PotBS GameAmp forum.
It looks like we are in luck. Looking at this screenshot it looks like city life and maybe even politics will be part of the game. The game is getting better and better.

I'm just playing catchup on this forum. The information here is a little out of date. Of course there is land action, quests, avatar combat (including PvP) in version R1. Check out the latest screenies at the official website and you'll see a series of ones where a pirate is fighting Royal Marines. He defeats several before getting cut down. (Lesson 1, don't think you are uber just cause you're a pirate.)
The latest talk on the forums is that there will be a chance to rise into local politics if you are in one of the three national factions. Pirates just don't make it in politics, they tend to want to rob the treasury and loot the governor's mansion. Well, pirates could make it in politics then. :P
Anyway, there will be as much action and intrigue on land, I dare say more of the latter, than on the open ocean!

hmm dunno if i like that ;P The fights on the sea is gonna be the reason i want to play the game probably :P
but that stuff about politics.. coooool ;)
