The official website of BBC news has posted an article detailing how Pirates of the Burning Sea's developer, FlyingLab Software, has sponsored the study of the movement of dolphins under and above water. The article creates an interesting and short-lived rumor that PotBS will have ridable dolphins implemented into the game.
When confronted about the rumor, FlyingLab's 'Aether' was able to confirm that such development was being made, and that, although they doubt the research and resulting content will be available before release, an expansion pack can be expected a few months after the shipping date.
Apparently, research of this type had never been performed before. To do such research, a new type of motion capturing had to be invented called ECRF-MC (Electro-Convulsive Radio Frequency Motion Capture) which was used in an attempt to get the dolphins to perform certain actions that needed more study.
The League of American Dolphin Lovers have raised minor protest to the research, stating that electrical shocks given to the dolphins may be harming them, but they were assured that the shocks only cause minor discomfort and that the dolphins are well looked after.
Let's hope that they manage to implement such a feature as riding dolphins. I've always loved dolphins!
